Brief: Microsoft MSN Adopts ValueClick Comparison-Shopping Engine

On Oct. 1, ValueClick's PriceRunner engine started supplying to MSN Shopping such information as pricing, product specifications, and reviews on a wide variety of consumer goods in France and the United Kingdom.

Microsoft's MSN portal has agreed to use ValueClick's comparison-shopping engine in the United Kingdom and France, officials said Monday.

Under the agreement, ValueClick's PriceRunner engine on Oct. 1 started supplying to MSN Shopping pricing, product specifications and reviews on a wide variety of consumer goods.

MSN has 17.1 million unique visitors each month in the U.K. and 14.2 million in France, the companies said. PriceRunner also operates in the United States, Sweden, Germany, Denmark and Austria.

"PriceRunner's infrastructure, experience and quality makes them a great choice for MSN to work with," John Brewer, director of shopping for MSN in Europe, said in a statement. "We will focus on technology development and moving beyond comparison shopping as it is conceived today."

Financial terms were not disclosed.
