Brief: Verizon, Cingular Broaden Notebook Wireless Data Offerings

Unlimited broadband service is available for $59.99 a month for subscribers who have certain Cingular voice contracts.

Cingular Wireless said Wednesday that its BroadbandConnect service is built into new Dell Latitude D620 and D820 notebook computers, paving the way for users to implement high-speed wireless data without an outboard modem or PC Card.

Cingular Wireless, owned by AT&T and BellSouth, said unlimited BroadbandConnect service is available for $59.99 a month for subscribers who have certain Cingular voice contracts. Cingular also announced it will offer international plans later this year – one to cover Mexico and Canada; the other for overseas markets.

In another wireless development, Verizon Wireless said availability for its BroadbandAccess high speed EV-DO service will be available on selected Dell Latitude, Lenovo, and HP Compaq notebook computers. The service is available for subscribers with a $39.99 monthly voice plan coupled with $59.99 for data access
