BT Wins Services Deal

The telecom giant will support oil and gas industry developer Cameron's video, voice, and data systems.

British Telecom has secured a $12 million agreement to provide network systems and support for Cameron International Corporation, a Houston, TX-based maker of flow control equipment for the oil and gas industries.

Under the three-year pact, BT will provide Cameron with a range of services, including support for the company's video, voice, data, and high-speed Internet systems.

BT officials said the deal will bolster their company's footprint in the oil and gas industry.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to further enhance BT's existing relationship with Cameron during the coming years," said Michael Boustridge, president of BT's Global Services Multi-National Corporations unit, in a statement.

"Today's announcement reinforces BT's strengths in providing enterprises with critical IT communications solutions that serve as a key enabler for success in today's global marketplace," said Boustridge.

For their part, executives at Cameron said they're confident the arrangement will boost productivity and efficiency at their company.

"To meet the dynamic requirements of our business, we need to access and process volumes of information quickly and securely, from locations across the globe, including some of the most remote areas of the world," said William Hull, director of IT infrastructure at Cameron.

"With BT's IT solution, we will continue to have access to a robust global and cost-efficient network with the speed, flexibility, reliability, and performance we require to work effectively with our customers and suppliers," said Hull.

BT maintains operations and service centers in 170 countries around the world. The company posted revenues of about $31.8 billion for the year ended March 31, 2009.
