How To Root Your Droid 2 or Droid 2 Global

BYTE -- Rooting the Motorola Droid 2 or Droid 2 Global is as easy as installing an app and pressing a button.

First, prep your phone to make sure you can install non Android Market apps from unknown sources. Open up Settings and tap on Applications.


Make sure you check the box next to Unknown Sources. Ignore the warning message that results and tap OK.



Also, tap on the Development option under Application Settings and to enable USB Debugging. You’ll get another warning message, but ignore it again and tap OK.



Now download and install Astro File Manager, a free app from the Android Market. It's a handy little app that will make the next few steps a little easier.
