I have just started back to school to obtain a Bachelors degree in information science. I have been in the Data Processing field since 1975 and am currently a systems manager for a large school district. In your opinion, are IS departments going to be around in the future, or will they be phased out? Hopefully they will be and I can put the degree I earn to good use in furthering my career. If not, should I be looking to go in a different direction?

Don't change your course in midstream; I.T. departments are an essential component of business functionality today and in the future.

More Questions:
Is the people shortage only happening with techies?

What should I do to improve my marketability?
