What are the chances of a non-U.S. resident obtaining IT jobs in the United States. I am an IT manager in Malaysia who has obtained a computer science master's degree and has two years of IT experience with a major company. I would like to assess the current demand and feasibility of obtaining a job in the United States. What is the best way to begin the process of applying for U.S. jobs?

Consulting firms, particularly smaller ones, will hire you on a one- or two-year work visa. This will get you to the United States, but the real challenge will be attaining your green card. You should focus on small (50-100 person) consulting companies that have resource-intensive issues.

Previous Question:
My goal is to become a CIO. Should I pursue a techno-MBA or a management of technology degree?
