Career Counsel

I am mid-career with experience ranging from hardware development, software development, project and program management, IT operations management, and telecommunications operations management to product marketing and business development. I have a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and an MBA. As I am tracking more towards general management responsibilities, would a practice management role in a Big Five consulting firm be a good career move?

If you can adjust to the expectations and travel requirements at mid-career, I say yes! Big Five experience at any point in a career is outstanding. Companies love it because it deepens your breath of experience and exposes you to different business case scenarios. It also grounds you with methodology that has become so much more essential in corporate development.

Next Question:
What are we likely to have to pay for a person with experience in E-commerce? What qualities should the ideal candidate posses? Is youth (under 30) an advantage or a disadvantage?
