I'm working toward my MBA and want to get into IT. My undergraduate degree is in business administration and my MBA will be in general business. What additional training would I needed to break into IT after I finish my MBA? Would the Microsoft System Engineer Certification be a good avenue to pursue, or should I pursue a related undergraduate degree?

Any certifications certainly will help boost your academic credentials. I would strongly recommend that you shift your focus of your MBA to a concentration in IS, if your not too far along. Even if you are well down the path, I would strongly encourage you to mix in as many technology or electronic-commerce courses as possible. Without them, you can have all the certifications in the world yet still be challenged on your technological understanding.

More Questions:
Would a bachelor's degree in IS be a waste of time, or should I focus on an MBA with an IS concentration?

What should be my next step: more technical training or more business training?
