I have several years of experience in IT, half in database application development and the rest in network management product development. What career paths can open up if I pursue a master's degree in telecom and networking given my network- management product development background? I have a bachelor's degree in engineering but no formal computer science or engineering background. I know there is a considerable difference between networking and network management, but I would like to pursue a career which involves both networking and network management simply because I like both.

The masters in telecommunication and networking will only further reinforce your strong communications and product-development experience. I think you have a great profile for product development in telecommunications-based products. Also any of the regional Bells would embrace that experience.

Next Question:
If I switch platforms and work on Web development and Java will that increase my market value?
