I'm in my early 40's. I made a career switch in my early 30's to the graphics and publishing industries and became a Mac expert. I've been working in IT for a major company supporting various computer systems, including Windows NT, for about 18 months. The key word is tech support. The pay and benefits are excellent, but this job seems to be a dead end. I need to branch out, but I feel boxed-in. I want to make the switch to systems integration and networking. What do you suggest?

I couldn't agree with you more! Add a certification for knowledge and credibility and start getting the word out there. You'll probably need to start as a junior administrator, but that will lead you to integration. Good luck.

More Questions:
I've been at a company for 17 years but I will be losing my job soon. What are my chances of maintaing my salary?

I'm interested in Web technology and would eventually like to be a manager. What kinds of jobs should I be looking for to meet these interests?
