Cloudant seems like an odd fit in this mix
IBM's deal with Cloudant will put its database service in the BlueMix, but it sounds like an odd fit given all the Power-oriented middleware described above. To what degree are Worklight (Mobile First software) and other recent middleware investments aligned with the needs of modern Mobile app and Web app developers?

IBM, advocate of Cloud Foundry independence?
IBM's BlueMix hinges on the future of Cloud Foundry, with its rich open source code environment. That's why IBM will be a platinum sponsor of a new Cloud Foundry Foundation, and was probably an advocate behind the scenes that governance shift out of Pivotal and into a vendor-neutral setting.

There's no doubt Google has made headway into businesses: Just 28 percent discourage or ban use of its productivity ­products, and 69 percent cite Google Apps' good or excellent ­mobility. But progress could still stall: 59 percent of nonusers ­distrust the security of Google's cloud. Its data privacy is an open question, and 37 percent worry about integration.
