Verizon Cloud Adds CloudBees PaaS

Verizon Cloud is still in the process of revamping itself into a cloud service competitor. CloudBees will add a deployment platform.

Primary use of CloudBees on Verizon will be deployment
Verizon spokesmen are emphasizing that it's the deployment characteristics of CloudBees that are being made available on its IaaS. CloudBees has strong deployment features, Kohsuke Kawaguchi, founder of Jenkins open source continuous deployment system, is now an architect at CloudBees. The development side of CloudBees PaaS will be hosted either by a CloudBees data center or the enterprise using CloudBees.

There's no doubt Google has made headway into businesses: Just 28 percent discourage or ban use of its productivity ­products, and 69 percent cite Google Apps' good or excellent ­mobility. But progress could still stall: 59 percent of nonusers ­distrust the security of Google's cloud. Its data privacy is an open question, and 37 percent worry about integration.
