Amazon runs servers, too, it says its utilization levels -- far above the 10% to 20% typical within most enterprise data centers -- help it deliver computing power at 30% to 40% lower cost than what the typical enterprise can achieve. For some customers, the costs are 70% to 90% less than internal costs, Amazon says.
