Increased sales and improved operating efficiencies helped business-intelligence software supplier Cognos nearly double net income in its second quarter ended Aug. 31 to $13.7 million, compared with $7.1 million in the same quarter a year ago. Revenue was $129.1 million, up 11% from $116.3 million for the same quarter last year. Product license revenue was up almost 9% to $55.0 million at a time when many software vendors reported declining sales.
