Struggling telecom-equipment vendor Lucent Technologies last week named its president and CEO, Patricia Russo, as chairman, replacing longtime head Henry Schacht, who remains as an outside board member. Russo returned to Lucent in 2002 after a two-year stint as president and chief operating officer of Eastman Kodak. Before that, she was head of Lucent's Service Provider Network division, which is the area where Lucent has staked much of its come-back potential.
