IBM is confronting Microsoft in its small and midsize business stronghold. It has teamed with Borland Software Corp. to put the DB2 database system into the hands of C# developers. C# is Microsoft's Java-like language and the cornerstone of its .Net strategy. Surveys show C# taking hold among developers, and the pairing of DB2 with Borland's C#Builder software means they may use C#Builder to access, manipulate, and store data in DB2.
