Video: Straight Off The UPS Truck, A New Amazon Kindle 2 Is Unboxed

In this, my first "unboxing" video on InformationWeek, you'll see me unpackage an Amazon Kindle 2 straight off the UPS truck. Amazon had planned to ship the first round of Kindle 2's on Feb. 24. But they shipped a day early and I received my review unit yesterday. Here's a video from carton to Kindle 2.

As stated in the video, I've got the Kindle 2 for about 10 days before I must return it to Amazon. There's probably a waiting list of reviewers waiting to get their hands on it. I'll be following up with a more complete review after I've had a chance to put it to use. Also, I'll be picking my wife's brain for her perspective. She has a voracious appetite for books and was a daily user of the original Kindle until I crushed it's display on the way to NYC where I did another video and a full writeup of the Kindle 2 on the day of it's launch. If you missed that video, here it is again:

He can be reached at dberlind@techweb.com and you also can find him on Twitter and other social networks (see the list below). David doesn't own any tech stocks. But, if he did, he'd probably buy some Salesforce.com and Amazon, given his belief in the principles of cloud computing and his hope that the stock market can't get much worse. Also, if you're an out-of-work IT professional or someone involved in the business of compliance, he wants to hear from you.
