June 22, 1999 E-Commerce: Making EDS Young Again? Proving once more that the Internet is all about change, staid old EDS last week launched the E-commerce Web site of Sony's Metreon entertainment and shopping megaplex in San Francisco. The site is run by EDS's E.Solutions unit, powered by five Microsoft Site Servers, and hosted at EDS's WebVault in Dallas. The Sony site sells children's high-tech products, such as a $10 bubble watch and Metreon souvenirs. But don't think this is a step down from EDS's usual big-ticket engagements: A crystal-sequined evening bag designed by Maurice Sendak sells on the site for $2,000. |
