The HTC G1 was the first smartphone built on Google's open source Android platform. Several manufacturers are planning handsets based on the Linux-based operating system. Samsung has announced it will have three Android handsets this year, and Acer, Motorola, Asus-Garmin, and Sony Ericsson could also release smartphones with the Google-backed OS in the coming months.

Discovered on January 26, 2004, MYDOOM reached a peak infection rate of 1 in every 12 e-mails, becoming the largest mass-mailer outbreak after SOBIG.F in September 2003. Although MYDOOM.A was not the first worm to demonstrate how effectively virus and spamming techniques could be combined, it was perhaps to the most successful and signaled its widespread adoption.

To make these computational art renderings, computer virus data derived from databases, spam, malware, and blogs was mapped to an algorithm that produced virtual 3D entities. MessageLabs unveiled the images during the RSA Conference in San Francisco in April, 2009.
