The company makes sealed rechargeable nickel-zinc (NiZn) batteries.  The NiZn battery pack from PowerGenix weighs about 35% less than the battery pack the Prius ships with. CEO Dan Squiller said his company's aqueous-based battery pack costs 50% less and has a higher percentage of recyclable materials than lithium ion batteries for the Prius in development by A123 Systems.
