Server chips, both dual- and quad-core, will continue to bear the Xeon brand name.

Code names of the processors on Intel's roadmap. The Core micro-architecture, already here, will spread throughout Intel's processor lineup this year.  Harpertown and Yorkfield will be Intel's first 45-nm quads. (65-nm quad cores are already shipping.)  Intel is emphasizing its impending shift to 45-nm chip-manufacturing technology.  Server chips, both dual- and quad-core, will continue to bear the Xeon brand name.  High-k and metal is Intel's innovative replacement for the polysilicon material used for the past 30 years.  Four chip-manufacturing fabs are ramping up to produce 45-nm processors.  Downsized devices like mobile Web browers and Net TVs are high on Intel's list of markets it hopes will grow.  Cost cutting is a significant element of Intel's financial strategy.  The upcoming Menlow processor will power the mobile Internet devices Intel envisions.  McCaslin powers Apple TV; Menlow is aimed at handheld Web devices.  Santa Rosa is the next-generation Centrino notebook platform.  Montevina, due in 2008, will bring quad-core processing to laptops.  Systems-on-a-chip may be the most novel component of Intel's long-term technology strategy.
