Vance Hitch, CIO, Department of Justice
As CIO of the Department of Justice, Vance Hitch has been focused on the integration of new technologies in the interests of efficiency, transparency, and interoperability. He oversees an IT budget of $2.8 billion.
During his tenure at Justice, Hitch has created an investment review board, encouraged performance-based contracting, improved cybersecurity, and emphasized information sharing, as evidenced by the department's "oneDOJ" initiative. Current efforts include Next Generation Identification, which entails biometrics data sharing between 82,000 organizations; consolidation of DOJ enterprise architecture; and creation of Fusion Centers, forums for information sharing between various groups to better fight crime and terrorism. Before coming to Justice in 2002, Hitch was a senior partner with Accenture, where he worked with government clients. |
