Grant Schneider, CIO, Defense Intelligence Agency
Grant Schneider, CIO of the Defense Intelligence Agency, directs the IT strategy for military intelligence efforts across the Department of Defense, leading a team of more than 3,000 IT pros and managing an annual IT budget of more than $900 million.
Last year, the agency announced Solutions for the Information Technology Enterprise, a tool that simplifies IT acquisition across the military. DIA has been a big proponent of information sharing through efforts like the J-Space general collaboration site and as a key player in developing A-Space, a collaborative social media environment for intelligence analysts. DIA also runs the military and intelligence communities' top secret Intranet, and supports IT for military intelligence analysts waging war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Before becoming DIA's CIO, Schneider was chief of the agency's enterprise IT operations group, where he helped to centralize military intelligence IT efforts. Earlier, he served in a number of IT and resource management roles, including as a program manager for IT infrastructure replacement, chief of IT infrastructure, and chief of IT resource management. |
