GE Puts Money On Health IT, Acquires IDX Systems

GE seems to think the health-care IT market has a lot of good years ahead of it. Last week, it inked a deal to buy IDX Systems Corp., a maker of patient-record software, for $1.2 billion in cash. GE sells more patient-care equipment based on its history of providing gear such as MRIs, while IDX sells administrative and clinical IT products. So GE sees a chance to sell hospitals a more complete package.
