GoTV Offers Verizon Subscribers Mobile Content

Content includes fantasy sports that allow fans to track teams, player statistics, and scores.

GoTV Networks Inc. has signed a deal with Verizon Wireless to provide mobile sports content on cellular phones, according to an executive.

David Bluhm, CEO for the mobile television network, said in an interview that GoTV will support Verizon Wireless subscribers with sports shows for cellular phones. Content includes fantasy sports that allow fans to track teams, player statistics and scores. "We'll produce most of the content for Verizon's VCAST Sports," he said.

GoTV produces the majority of content it broadcasts at its studios in Sherman Oaks, Calif., including The Front Page, Today in College Sports, Sporting News and College Game Recaps and VCAST Sports Trivia.

"Some of the more popular content we develop includes comedy, sports, and music news like undiscovered artists and special interviews," Bluhm said. "We don't believe you need clips of last night's TV shows, but we do think people are immersed in certain styles, such as hip hop or rock, and want access to backstage events at concerts or exclusive interviews."

Adding Verizon Wireless's 1.2 million customers brings GoTV's viewers into the millions. Content also is available to Sprint, Nextel, Cingular Wireless and Boost Mobile network customers. Some includes sports roundups for college sports, NBA highlights, Hip Hop and Rock music channels.
