Platform owners should control the experience more
As it stands, in-app purchasing allows the developer a lot of freedom in terms of the wording and presentation of the in-app soliciation. Apple, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft could take a more proactive approach and making the purchasing flow more standardized. Instead of being able to write the full text of a purchase pop-up for example, developers might only be able to insert a specific word for the item sold. Less abuse would arise. Perhaps sales would shrink too. But at least the buying experience would become consistent.
