Grand Theft Auto Rating Changed To "Adults Only"

The game's publisher, Rockstar Games, has reportedly agreed to the "adults only" label and said it will publish a new version of the game without the sex scene.

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has changed its rating for the game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" from "Mature 17+" (M) to "Adults Only 18+" (AO) because of a controversial modification that enables a sex scene.

The game's publisher, Rockstar Games, has reportedly agreed to the "adults only" label and said it will publish a new version of the game without the sex scene.

The modification, which is called the "Hot Coffee" modification and which can be downloaded free from several Web sites, enables the main character to engage in sex with a woman during game play.

Rockstar had early stated that the download re-writes its code to add the scene. The ESRB investigation found, however, that the scenes exist in the commercial version of the game, and that the download merely unlocks what's already there.
