HIMSS Rates Hospitals' IT Maturity

In Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's test to score hospitals' adoption and use of IT tools, only about 2% of US hospitals have achieved a top rating.

When progress stalls
Interesting that some hospitals seem not to be making progress, according to HIMSS measures. What do you suppose is holding them back?

Organizational change isn't easy
In answer to your question about why some hospitals aren't making progress, @David Carr, I'd say the answer is organizational roadblocks, not technology. It's interesting, I think, that Lakeland (a Stage 7 institution) made a point of moving quickly in its EMR adoption, believing that this would contribute to the success of the deployment overall.
