Apple's free iBooks Author is an easy way to get started in electronic textbook publishing. Just know there's a middleman standing between you and your adoring public: Apple. Start creating a new ebook in iBooks Author by choosing one of six templates. Each template gives you a sample chapter to work with. You can open existing work files using the buttons in the bottom left of the screen.
