BlackBerry® evangelists met with Android™ developers last week at AnDevCon III in Burlingame, CA to talk about the cool development options of bringing Android apps to the BlackBerry platform, and how to publish them on the BlackBerry App World™ storefront to reach a global audience. The word of how easy the process is started to spread out quickly among conference participants at two full-house events on day one of the conference – the Lightning Talk presented
I just spent the last week in Orlando to attend BlackBerry World and BlackBerry 10 Jam, the biggest BlackBerry event of the year, thanks to RIM who “sent” me there in the role of BlackBerry ambassador. This year, it was even more important than ever. It was the biggest BlackBerry event ever organized and definitely an important and historical milestone for RIM. New CEO, new strategy and a new, impressive team of RIM people completely dedicated to developers.
Why so important? With the soon to be released BlackBerry 10 operating system, with the new wonderful
One of my favorite things about working as a community and blog manager for BlackBerry ® is getting to talk to you and provide updates on our products. Each day on our social channels fans, followers and readers ask, when will BlackBerry ® 10 launch? It is clear you’re excited to get your hands on it, and we definitely can’t wait to get it to you. Today, I’m happy to report that Thorsten Heins, in a press release, announced that the BlackBerry 10 Launch event is to be held on January 30, 2013. The event will happen simultaneously in multiple countries around the world, where details of the smartphones and their availability will be announced.
Soon after Saunders took over the developer relations team, he asked Research In Motion's then co-CEO Mike Lazaridis in October 2011 for 25,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. When Lazaridis asked why, Saunders said he intended to give them away. Lazaridis ultimately agreed, and Saunders began giving PlayBooks out to developers. He followed that up by giving away more than 8,000 units of RIM's Dev Alpha devices, which ran an early version of BlackBerry 10. Saunders knew he needed to get the long-ignored BlackBerry developer base excited again. In 48 out of the last 52 weeks, he has been on a plane circling the globe in an effort to drum up interest
We’re excited to announce that BlackBerry App World™ is now accepting applications targeted for BlackBerry® 10 devices. This means that apps submitted to the store starting today, October 10, are guaranteed to be reviewed, tested and ready for publishing when BlackBerry 10 launches in Q1 2013. This is a huge opportunity to be the first into the store and capitalize on app-hungry BlackBerry users. (Ed. note, Victoria B played Mexican Train Dominoes until 4am last night. We’re app-hungry too.)When you’re creating a new release in the BlackBerry App World Vendor Portal, you will now see a new Family called “BlackBerry 10” and one new device “All
Today, our UK office the opened its doors to developers with the grand opening of the first BlackBerry® Tech Center. Located in our Slough office, the BlackBerry Tech Center will be open weekdays from 9AM – 5PM, offering a dedicated workspace for developers looking to create applications for BlackBerry® 10. Our BlackBerry developer evangelist team will be on hand every day to provide expertise and guidance, with each day having a specific theme so that developers can attend on a day that guarantees the support that is most relevant to them:Monday: Native/Cascades™/QtTuesday: Android™ portingWednesday: BlackBerry® WebWorks™ and HTML 5Thursday:
I know, I know, I said that about Windows Phone too and Microsoft has yet to prove itself as far as the market is concerned. True, but at the risk of portraying myself as the guy who always roots for the underdog, I still believe both Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry 10 have a good chance of making their way back to relevancy. Let me explain.Putting Windows Phone aside, since we have talked about that enough, lets talk about RIM and their chances of making a much needed comeback with BlackBerry 10.The OS is expected to be announced in a matter of days and I happen to have some friends on the inside (wow, that sounds um… more hardcore than it is.
Over half of US phone owners are impressed with rumored BlackBerry 10 devices CouponCodes4u.com has conducted another interesting industry survey to discover whether or not the latest rumored BlackBerry BB10 devices have enough in them to make Americans switch cell phones and if they are excited about the latest rumors and photos surrounding the new phones. The study surveyed 1,092 Americans. Respondents were initially asked whether or not they personally owned a BlackBerry device, to which 39 percent said ‘yes’, while 61 percent said ‘no’. Those respondents who said that they did not own a BlackBerry device were asked to
I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Derek Konigsberg, who some of you may know better as @dkonigs. For those of you who may not know Derek, he’s been developing apps for the BlackBerry® platform since 2006 (starting with BlackBerry handheld software version 4.1), so he’s seen quite the overhaul to the platform. Long story short, my conversation with Derek about his questions on BlackBerry® 10 developments inspired a really neat idea: Stump the BlackBerry Devs.
How do I stump someone and who am I stumping? Provide us with a design or mock-up that you
Finally someone got it right! RIM is the first company that understood that there is no way you can be successful without having 4 things (and implemented all of those):
I just got back from the BlackBerry 10 Jam São Paulo and what I saw there was just awesome! I’ve been developing for BlackBerry since I got my Torch 9800 (just for fun) in March of this year and as soon as I started developing for it I saw that RIM was really committed to developers. They provide all the tools, SDKs, frameworks and support for you to create the most awesome apps.
