Summary: Gadgets and the apps that run them have become so powerful it makes me more productive, all of the time.

I write for a living and inspiration comes at the oddest times. Mobile technology plays a major role in my work, as it lets me capture ideas when they occur no matter where I am. Gadgets have evolved to be powerful information capture tools and also make content creation easy.

The benefit of mobile tech in my work is certainly specific to what I do for a living. Accountants or other professionals may find gadgets don’t play as big

BGR has learned from a reliable source that Microsoft is currently planning to release the company’s full Office suite for not only Apple’s iPad, but for Android tablets as well. The company is targeting November of this year for both launches. Additionally, our source has seen Microsoft Office running on an iPad first-hand and has said that it looks almost identical to the previous leak from The Daily a few months back, despite the fact that

I can confirm that the Verizon iPhone 5 is indeed GSM unlocked. Even though I bought an iPhone 5 from Verizon under contract, I was able to cut down my AT&T Micro SIM, and use it in my Verizon iPhone 5 to pick up an AT&T signal. By doing so, I was able to hop onto AT&T’s HPSA+ network, or “4G” as they so ridiculously name it.AT&T’s so-called 4G speeds are nothing like true LTE speeds, but they are a bit better than typical 3G speeds. But the big news here isn’t about speed. The big news here is that we have confirmed that you can use a Verizon iPhone 5 on AT&T or T-Mobile, freely, even if you’re a brand new customer under contract.Obviously,

One of my favorite things about working as a community and blog manager for BlackBerry ® is getting to talk to you and provide updates on our products. Each day on our social channels fans, followers and readers ask, when will BlackBerry ® 10 launch? It is clear you’re excited to get your hands on it, and we definitely can’t wait to get it to you. Today, I’m happy to report that Thorsten Heins, in a press release, announced that the BlackBerry 10 Launch event is to be held on January 30, 2013. The event will happen simultaneously in multiple countries around the world, where details of the smartphones and their availability will be announced.

Last week, Mozilla’s Product Design Strategy team quietly announced a few new projects including something called Junior, a Webkit browser for the iPad with no tabs or search bars. Instead, it uses simple

Soon after Saunders took over the developer relations team, he asked Research In Motion's then co-CEO Mike Lazaridis in October 2011 for 25,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. When Lazaridis asked why, Saunders said he intended to give them away. Lazaridis ultimately agreed, and Saunders began giving PlayBooks out to developers. He followed that up by giving away more than 8,000 units of RIM's Dev Alpha devices, which ran an early version of BlackBerry 10. Saunders knew he needed to get the long-ignored BlackBerry developer base excited again. In 48 out of the last 52 weeks, he has been on a plane circling the globe in an effort to drum up interest

PALOS VERDES, Calif.--At D10, Microsoft's Tony Bates, president of the Skype Division, laid out two of the major growth opportunities and challenges for the communications service: Mobile and video.

Announcing today that Skye now has 250 million connected users, up from 170 million the last time he reported, he said that over 50% of his traffic is now video communications.

Skype is "doubling down" on Windows 8 he said (also doubling down on secrecy), which Bates says is excellent for Skype due to its focus on people. "Windows 8 really represents where Skype is going. The desktop is still the largest use case."

But the

Rim's VP of developer relations, Alec Saunders, has struck back at a Baird survey suggesting that developers are losing interest in BlackBerry 10. "I was pretty shocked by the findings," Saunders wrote in a blog post

There’s just no getting around it: iPhone 5′s aren’t cheap. For most people, it’ll cost at least $199 with a two-year contract for a 16GB model. But U.S. regional carriers are sweetening the deal on the iPhone 5 with $50 discounts on all three iPhone models. Instead of $199 (16GB), $299 (32GB) and $399 (64GB), customers who sign two-year contracts with Appalachian Wireless, Cellcom or nTelos can pick them up for $50 less than what Apple (AAPL) and the three major U.S. carriers are selling them for. The same regional carriers are also selling the 16GB  iPhone 4S for $49.99 with a two-year contract, or $50 less than Apple, AT&T (T), Sprint (S)
