I can confirm that the Verizon iPhone 5 is indeed GSM unlocked. Even though I bought an iPhone 5 from Verizon under contract, I was able to cut down my AT&T Micro SIM, and use it in my Verizon iPhone 5 to pick up an AT&T signal. By doing so, I was able to hop onto AT&T’s HPSA+ network, or “4G” as they so ridiculously name it.AT&T’s so-called 4G speeds are nothing like true LTE speeds, but they are a bit better than typical 3G speeds. PALOS VERDES, Calif.--At D10, Microsoft's Tony Bates, president of the Skype Division, laid out two of the major growth opportunities and challenges for the communications service: Mobile and video.
Announcing today that Skye now has 250 million connected users, up from 170 million the last time he reported, he said that over 50% of his traffic is now video communications.
Skype is "doubling down" on Windows 8 he said (also doubling down on secrecy), which Bates says is excellent for Skype due to its focus on people. "Windows 8 really represents where Skype is going. The desktop is still the largest use case."

Instead of $199 (16GB), $299 (32GB) and $399 (64GB), customers who sign two-year contracts with Appalachian Wireless, Cellcom or nTelos can pick them up for $50 less than what Apple (AAPL) and the three major U.S. carriers are selling them for.
