In my last blog, “Clout vs. Klout – Or the Real Meaning of Social Influence,” I pulled together information which concluded that the most visible people are not necessarily correlated with influence, and word-of-mouth recognition can only be harnessed by targeting large numbers of ordinary influencers. That naturally raises the question, “Who are these influencers and how DO we find them?” Is there some way of identifying those people who are connected to a

As you’re working hard to improve your brand visibility with the new Timeline layout, there is often a feature or two that gone under your radar. Along with some buggy issues that may interfere your daily page engagement effort! Give this post a quick check and see if you could improve your Page with minor tweaking this week.

Facebook removed the RSS subscription for Page updates after launching Timeline. Since then, users are advised to use ‘Interest Lists

It’s expected that Facebook will touch the one billion users mark later this year. Twitter and LinkedIn continue to grow at a phenomenal rate as well. On the other hand, experimental social networks such as Quora and Pinterest have gained acceptance as well. While there’s no doubt that social media is gaining mainstream traction in our personal lives as well as business, there’s no hiding the fact that several small businesses still shy away from social networks

This has been in the oven for a while and I know a lot of folks have been waiting for it, to be precise, since November when Google+ announced it was opening its API to a few selected companies, HootSuite included.

Since then, HootSuite had a cap of 200 users but yesterday, they opened it for the rest of world, that means you an me.

But Iâm not here to spread the news, Iâm here to tell you how to set up your Google+ Page on HootSuite. And we are going to do this on a very quick and easy step-by-step mini-tutorial, SocialMouths style.

Before we do that, there are two things you need to know about this, I think theyâ

Just last week, we proposed a mobile landing page to a client after seeing how much of their traffic was coming from mobile devices. There was a brief moment of silence, not the uncomfortable kind but more like that honest question mark in facial expression. He can figure out what a “mobile landing page” is in about 3 seconds, the term is pretty obvious. The question mark on his face was instead screaming something like “we’re barely starting to get social media and you’re telling me know we have to dive into mobile marketing too?”So here is the bad news for you: Yes. The good news for me is that I don’t have to convince of it anymore, this beautiful

Last week, I did a little mental housecleaning with a mega list on Blogging Ideas.  Well I’m still cleaning.

This week I’m sorting through some of my business blogging pet peeves.  From my experience, this list details all of the blog booby traps that businesses face.  If you run a business blog, read this list to avoid things like:

I'm Stanford and I want to help you stoke your passion, spread your message, and help your blog get noticed and promoted. Take a look in the archives

One sign that your blog is becoming successful is that it begins to attract attention from all sorts of spammers who want to buy back-links on your site, place promotional content through guest posts, or even pay you for favorable reviews. That is certainly not my game and the spam has gotten so bad that I don’t even read the email “pitches” any more. But I recently responded to one particularly nagging spammer and asked him to take me off his mailing list.  He was an SEO gamester who was trying to get me to feature his lousy self-help infographic on my site.As a marketing professor and writer of Tao of Twitter I’m surprised that you aren’t impressed

For me, the emergence of blogs was my burning bush. I didn’t understand it at first, but I’ve come to see that salvation (commonly known as content marketing) is within reach. If only we’re willing to believe.

All joking aside, using a smart keyword strategy (hint: there’s research involved) and the right social media channels (for your business), you can refocus your marketing dollars into a content marketing strategy that’s both sustainable and cost effective.

Combine keywords with a strong on-site blogging platform and social media engagement and you’ve got it. Simple right? Wrong, it’s simple but not easy.

September 11, 2012 0 Comments I couldn’t fall asleep last night so I trolled the Intertubes checking out old videos of Steve Jobs, which somehow led me to this Mark Zuckerberg video.I sat through the entire 15 minutes of Mark’s video, and I’m pleased to say that Mark has taught me two very cool things. In fact, these two things are so huge, and so important, that I stated writing an email to Dan at 12:41AM.Unfortunately for Dan, this is not unusual. Poor guy is always waking up to several long emails from me…what can I say, my creative flow works the late shift.
