nSolutions' NOVA (Network Ontology and Virtualization Appliance) offering auto-discovers infrastructure resource configurations, builds real-time repositories of physical and virtual resources, correlates interdependencies and controls changes while ensuring operational and security continuity, according to nSolutions.

"Automation and control of change and configuration management is the only way to handle complexity and assure high availability and security of business services," said nSolutions CEO Harish Rao, in a statement.

nSolutions said NOVA is designed to operate across "IT silos" to provide users with a unified view of the configuration state of infrastructure resources that support various business services. NOVA builds a repository of the discovered configurations and the interdependencies among application infrastructures.

NOVA's repository is an operational Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB) that maintains real-time information and exchanges configuration data with a federation of CMDBs, according to nSolutions.

A feature called Change Impact Analytics generates reports for managers responsible for operations, compliance and security. "nSolutions brings a unique set of capabilities to the change and configuration management space," said Richard Ptak, an analyst at Ptak, Noel and Associates.

nSolutions will be demonstrating NOVA at Interop at Trusted Computing Group's booth 421 on the show's exhibit floor.

NOVA is currently shipping with prices starting at about $20,000, said nSolutions, a San Jose, CA-based spinoff of Bell Laboratories Research.
