Last We Checked, The Average IT Manager Made $99,000 …

And the average IT staffer $73,000 in salary and bonus. Those are just the start of the findings from last year's InformationWeek Salary Survey, in which 10,000 of you participated. Please take this year's survey, at informationweek.com/salary. (Links to a salary tool and last year's articles after the jump.)

Please take this year's survey, at informationweek.com/salary. (Links to a salary tool and last year's articles after the jump.)There's much to analyze from last year's survey, and it's yours to explore using our Salary Adviser tool, which lets you carve up the research, including by job title or geography.

We did two main articles last year from the Salary Survey. One gave the straight numbers on who's making what. The second offered advice on positioning your IT career against the offshoring threat, in a piece called "You Vs. Offshoring." One notable finding from last year's survey was that the average base salary grew hardly at all, but that bonuses pushed the average to 3% for staff and 4% for managers. Bonuses made up a bigger share of pay than any year since 2001.

We do all we can to put this data in your hands when we collect it. Please help us build this year's research by taking the survey, at informationweek.com/salary. The more we know, the more we can share with you.
