The Dirty Mechanics of Boca Raton didn't win the competition, but it won the Judge's Award for showing "extreme resilience" after the former Boca Raton High School program was dropped by the school as an official club. Team captain Erin Ferguson helped reorganize it as a community-based team and raise funding to keep it alive. The Dirty Mechanics continue to draw students from the STEM magnet program at the high school, supplemented with home schoolers.
