We should track Microsoft's security issues and create an index-tracking mechanism similar to the national safety tracking of cars ("Microsoft Fixes Exchange Server Flaw," Aug. 10). Use of warning labels should be part of all Microsoft products with skull and bones: "Use of this product can be hazardous to your health or business."
My whining here is just a way to relieve some of my frustration around security and Microsoft's approach to it.

Could you follow up this article with industry successes with implementation of project-life-cycle-management software such as Teamcenter Engineering, Enovia, and MatrixOne ("Deeper Than Designs," Aug. 9)?
The story seems to focus more on successes of using computer-aided design (i.e., Catia) instead of systems such as Teamcenter that are used for managing the life cycle of CAD and other engineering and manufacturing data.

EBay Fuels Franchise
I enjoyed your article on the eBay and Amazon E-commerce engines ("New Face Of E-Commerce," July 26). However, you left out an emerging eBay-related business growth area. You covered the large companies that are selling surplus goods on eBay, but you didn't cover the emerging market of stores that help individuals sell their items on eBay.
These stores put items on eBay and ship them to the buyer for a percentage of the auction price. One startup company called Auction Mills is going to franchise this concept worldwide. These franchise operations could pop up in every town like another Starbucks, and they'll all need IT support.
