Linux distributor Gentoo Technologies Inc. posted a warning last week that a server used to distribute copies of its Gentoo Linux was broken into. Gentoo took the affected server offline and was running file-integrity checks as well as an intrusion-detection system and says it's "reasonably confident" that the files stored on the system were unaffected. The Gentoo hack follows a hacker intrusion into four servers run by the Debian Project, which distributes Debian Linux, late last month.
