Management Hassles? Box Them Up

Vowel-happy Vieo is introducing flexible, intelligent network-management software packaged in a physical appliance.

Customers could soon have a simple approach to network and systems management. Adaptive Application Infrastructure Management, to be unveiled next week by Vieo Inc., is designed to be flexible, intelligent management software in a physical appliance that literally snaps into networks running on Infiniband, IP, or Fibre Channel.

Industry analyst Anne Skamarock at Enterprise Management Associates says Vieo can deal with Infiniband requirements, including a management component, as part of every data packet. "Some companies are ready to announce Infiniband plans, but the economy has brought a lot of new technology to a grinding halt," she says. "Still, Vieo should be helping customers by the middle of next year."
