It does not seem to be that big data is aleady in smart/connected home right now. Smart home is a old problem in computer science/engineering research, but with the development of smart buildings/smart phones/smart meters/smart grid, more and more people begin to accept their devices to be connected considering their own purpose, such as energy saving, health monitor, time efficient, etc.

Big Data?
I don't know if this is actually a "big data issue." After all, they are monitoring at most 100 or so transducers in your home, not 10's of millions. And, I don't see how wearables will make that much of a difference, as this kind of control can be managed from the now ubiquitous tablet. But, no doubt the technology is here, and it will soon be a toy for the average homeowner, and not just the wealthy.
