Where's the spectrum?
Agreed on the WAN observation. The US spectrum auction situation isn't exactly promising. IoT-enabled consumer home and stationary retail/factory devices can use wi-fi, but what about the cars, planes, trains, buses, etc.

The standard of Standards
I absolutely agree, one of the biggest hurdles when it comes to the IoT is that there is simply no standards when it comes to supporting this platform.  Aside from this there are other significant hurdles that will push against mass adoption. First, since IoT data is often one-time feeds, how do we ensure data protection and replication standards are met?  What about large data feeds such as from medical devices, will there be some form of WAN optimization native to support these data feeds, especially as usage picks up?  And most importantly, how do you secure these feeds?  They often lack encryption or data can be read by rogue devices (RFID is particularly succeptible) and must be secure if they are to interact with personal information.

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
