Finance versus Engineering
I think that finance obviously helps build very wealthy people, but engineering builds businesses. And businesses can create jobs for people.

Look at Silicon Valley. While there are a larger contingent of financial people coming to the area, there are a large incumbent population of engineers.

Engineers build things, while financial people help to fund ideas and allow global capital to flow.

Both are necessary, but I tend to think that it is the entrepreneurial engineer that can create jobs that has a lot more value to the economy.
