Re: The best of both worlds?
I think the key point is about the balance of public and private sections. Big organizations have the concern for security to rely on public cloud. For private cloud, the O&M cost will be high. Furthermore, if all organizations start to turn to private one, the silo will start to form. The hybrid cloud is a good concept but it really depends how it's implemented in reality.

The best of both worlds?
It's not surprising to see organizations start to mull over hybrid clouds as they start to get used to the inner workings of a virtualized/cloud environment.  There are many reasons why they would want to pull some of their data in-house, not just for security, but for access to other in-house systems that are using this data.  The real question is whether the ability to have more flat (non-siloed) environments will mean organiations continue to invest heavily in public cloud and keep the hybrid environment running, or if they will still see more benefit to having a fully private cloud in-house as the adoption of cloud continues to push the overall infrastructure costs down.

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
