Re: Employment Cycles Are Spinning Faster
I'd like to think that these types of systems aid employees, especially when it comes to large enterprises who have constantly new open positions.  The reality, these enterprises are also notorious for doing mass departmental reorganizing which often affects strong talent who have less and less desire to tolerate these types of sweeping changes.  It'd be nice to see if these solutions actually help with internal transitions as well by identifying internal candidates with the right skillsets who can work in unrelated divisions, rather than keeping them siloed.

Employment Cycles Are Spinning Faster
The workforce is getting much more mobile, meaning in the job-hopping sense, but also in the smartphone-carrying context. Millennials in particular are in and out of jobs with higher frequency than seen with past generations. LinkedIn and the broader social networking craze has facilitated that mobility, making recruiting technology -- and, more importantly, retention and talent-management technology -- all the more important. In other words, you can't compete as an employer if you're still relying on spreadsheets and email. Even if you're prepared to pay more, the faster, more efficient pipeline will get to the best talent first.
