FWIW, I'm starting to see suspiciously more stories lately about the value of a college degree, students being better off, etc., to the point that I'm now at least a little distrustful of anything on the subject -- especially when the stats come from colleges themselves or the federal government.

Data from colleges themselves is suspect because it only uses the data from survey respondents -- and thoses without a job or an offer are unlikely to reply.
