I couldn't agree more Laurianne. I found that creating friendly relationships in both organizations made everything much better and added fun to the project. I'm not just talking on the professional level, but on a personal level as well. People start seeing that you're human like they are which changes the view on the task at hand. Tasks that initially was surrounded with drama (and not in my court), suddenly became trivial and magically completed before I could even ask for status.

"Instead of glaring across the universe at each other, marketing and IT should see that they're not only on the same planet, they are building a home there together." Well said. Those "work your charm" stories will be your ticket to success as the lines between CIO and CMO (and their teams) blur.
