Dev reach
It will be interesting to see what the large Salesforce dev community does with this. Does the "today" type app mentioned here appeal to you on a smartwatch?

Re: Dev reach
It's still early days for wearables, but developers can't put them off for long. Salesforce told me they plan to go on the road and evangelize the heck out of Salesforce Wear. So it will be right in developers' faces.

Re: Dev reach
The IT world is just starting to standardize some things and now a whole new market of wearables is coming in to disturb it again. Interesting.

Re: Dev reach
I wonder if developers will be wary of tying too closely to a Salesforce ecosystem. Or maybe the reverse will be true -- in trying to be open, Salesforce won't cater enough to the specific needs of its its inherently mobile clientele of sales pros. Anyone have a sense of where this effort is likely to land on the spectrum?

Re: Dev reach
I'm wondering if wearables are really going to be that big a market. Companies would have to go into mass production to drastically bring down prices, thus making them more palatable for the general public. Unless we're talking about industrial use for some wearables, I just don't see the market being that big for decades, if at all.

How many wearables does it take to justify the investment
I'm just thinking out load here, but is the company going to be buying every salesperson a wearable to justify the investment in a wearables app? It's not exactly like iOS and Android where a company can count on employees having or wanting at least one of these choices. I guess it's good to look over the horizon. Maybe if Apple finally chimes in and solidifies the category, Salesforce may be on to something here.

Before it is too late..
We are indeed about to witness the glory of wearable technology in the coming days. And apps will play an integral role. Clearly Salesforce.com is leading the league of platforms allowing access to develop mobile apps for wearable tech. This send a clear message to the developer community to gear up for the next BIG thing in app development. So, is it too early to discuss the challenges? I dont think so! One of my colleagues has written about the challenges of wearable tech apps: http://mlabs.boston-technology.com/blog/salesforce.com-just-fast-tracked-the-growth-of-wearables

IT's Reputation: What the Data Says
InformationWeek's IT Perception Survey seeks to quantify how IT thinks it's doing versus how the business really views IT's performance in delivering services - and, more important, powering innovation. Our results suggest IT leaders should worry less about whether they're getting enough resources and more about the relationships they have with business unit peers.
