Amazon Fire - Really! Another entry to the smartphone market
So the Amazon Fire Smartphone is available.

It has some nice specs, but it really comes down to a highly customized version of Android, which is ok, since I like Android.

So the question is: What is Amazon's strategy? Just get a piece of the pie?

If we think about it, for Amazon it kind off makes sense that they want to become another player. They already have the kindle, and it's various incarnations, so providing a smartphone is taking advantages of the very well established media offering they already have. So it's more of a cutting the middle man out of the equation.

I don't really think it'll become a big thread to the current heavy hitters, but it will increase the competition.

So if we take a step back: Both Amazon and Samsung are constantly pushing out innovation, even if it is just another button...they're trying. I can't say the same for Apple, since we're currently seing "upgrades" versus a true leap forward....granted that the current Iphone 5S has a 64 bit processor, which potential hasn't been fully exploited yet....so maybe Iphone is still ahead of the game?
