No question that this is the key issue.  It sounds like ONC is committed but I suspect there will be a lot of lobbying in congress not to do it at all or to water it down significantly.  Honestly, I don't know what the odds are that it will happen but I'm hoping people who agree will get behind it.

Sounds like the key problem is that health systems and the enterprise EHR vendors are very interested in having monopolies. Do you think the federal and local governments have the will, and ability, to break through that and impose standards?
