re: More Patients Support EHRs, But Worry About Privacy
The consumersGăÍ concern with EHR data security is understandable. One can improve consumer confidence in data security by increasing consumer control. That is, the consumer should confirm what health information is shared and with whom. This will immediately give them more confidence in the system. It will also reduce any question of privacy or inappropriate release of personal information G㢠the only person that can release personal information is the consumer or someone authorized by them.

Including consumers in the decision process is a natural progression in the EHR adoption: from establishment of EHRs, to allowing consumer access to the records, to finally consumer control and collaborative care.

re: More Patients Support EHRs, But Worry About Privacy
EHRs may be valuable in hospitals, and perhaps in small medical practices. But in dentistry, EDRS are not only more expensive than paper dental records, but they are more dangerous as well. What's more, they offer no service that has been adequately handled by telephone, fax and US Mail for decades.

What did you expect? Dentists can only treat 8 to 10 patients per day, and we don't send patients out for lab tests.
