Re: Iím skeptical
It is amazing that doctors and fitness professionals are looking up new ways to guarantee that the individuals remains healthy and free from lifestyle diseases. Health has become a very important issue that cannot be ignored. Our lifestyles have greatly changed and people are now significantly increasing in weight. The good thing about the fit bit app is the fact that it will guarantee that everyone will be in shape. The only looming question is whether insurance will be up for it.

Re: I'm Skeptical
I don't know: It's tough when you have more healthcare organizations looking at ways to incorporate these devices into treatment and population health initiatives, the government coming down pretty heavily on promoting a healthy population -- and then telling people they have to pay for these devices 100% out of their paycheck. That said, if these were to become FSA-eligible, it certainly opens the door to home gyms, perhaps bikes, and other health/fitness equipment too. But when HAVE the IRS rules made any sense?!

Re: I'm Skeptical
It would be nice but insurance companies are payimng less and less for tests, dr visits and other diagnontic tests that are expensive to run. They will get out of payiong what ever they can. Even though gadgets like the fitbit would no doubt benefit someone I don't see them helping pay for them anytime soon if at all.

I'm Skeptical
Riding my bike helps me stay healthy, should I be able to buy a new one with FSA dollars? (I'd like that!)  Beyond the fairly limited example of a doctor writing this into a treatment plan that you note, seems like this isn't going to be a big sales driver.
